The members of the Welllington Branch of the Nurses' Association will be pleased to read of the honour given to their president :

His Excellency, Lord Islington, has been advised that Dr. William Young, M.D., has been enrolled as an honorary associate of the order of St John of Jerusalem, with the sanction of His Majesty King George, m recognition of his services to the ambulance department of the Order m Wellington. These services have been gratuitous and extend over a period of fifteen years, during which time Dr. Young has given a large number of lectures m" first aid." and" home nursing." He was appointed the first hon-

orary surgeon to the " Nursing Guild of St. John," and for some time gave the members most valuable instruction. For some years he has lectured to the senior pupils at Wellington College on ambulance work, m addition to instruction imparted from time to time to a number of citizens on the same subject. Dr. Young is the fourth member of the medical profession m New Zealand who has been enrolled as an honorary associate of the Order of St. John, the first to receive the distinction being the late Dr Hacon, Christchurch who rendered yeoman service on behalf of the organisation of St. John m the early days of its New Zealand history. — ■ From the Evening Post.
