Charles Watt and Dr. Sexton were to have a big debate in Montreal during the first week of April. Dr. Sexton is an old platform hand, who has been Freethought lecturer and everything else by turns. His debates, however, are worth reading. The quiet humour displayed by the writer of the following paragraph in a small up-country paper is the excuse for its republication “ The following interesting paragraph appears amongst the ‘ locals ’ of the ‘ Nelson Evening Mail ’ : £ God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John in, 16.’ Why the Press Association agent did not telegraph the information at once is a mystery too difficult to explain. Possibly he considered it had only a local application, and would not interest the outside world.”
