WELLINGTON SECULAR SOCIETY.

The report of the above Society for the hist mouth reads as under : Sir, —Referring back to my last communication, I mentioned that a lecture would be given by “ Ivo ” (Mr. Joseph Evison), on Sunday the 9th Oct, Subject ;—“Who are the Infidels ? this discourse he gave and delivered in a grand manner ; in fact, “ Ivo ” is becoming a very impressive and eloquent speaker, he gave us a lecture on the following Sunday re “Chinese Gordon and the Talping Rebellion,” pointing out in a masterley manner the horrors and cruelty of that war, and the disgusting way in which it was carried on by the English. Mr. Evison was able to give much information having served during the Rebellion. i On the 2nd inst. Mr. Donovan from Wanganui, kindly gave us a lecture on “ Why does not God kill the Devil.” He kept the audience amused the whole evening with his remarks on the absurd passages in the Old Testament, Sunday the 9th November, the platform was again occupied by Mr. Evison, who recited some very choice readings from our Poets and Humourists. East Sunday, the Kith, we had the pleasure of listening to an I able and very agreeable young lecturer, Mr. Isaac Selby, who took for his subject, “ The World that is, and the World that is to | come,” he is a fluent speaker, and is very quick at repartee, when I in debate. I presume he will lie giving your city a visit shortly. ! Our band of workers are pushing on the movement. AA e have i altered the name of our Association into the Wellington Secular 1 Society.
