Miscellaneous.

At 8.30 p.m., on the 12th ultimo, two men were seen taking a table from outside the shop of Mr. Donaldson, general dealer, corner of Cashel and Durham streets, and throw it into the river, damaging the table which was recovered, to the extent of about Los., but it was so dark at the time that the^ade - tification of the menus very doubtful. ihe first man was about oft. Sin , stout build, dressed in black clothes, and black silk hat. ; the second man wore dark clothes and a white billycock hat.

About the 28th October last, some plants sn< * shrubs, in the schoolgrounds at St. Albans, were maliciously torn up arid scattered about during the night, presumably by some larrikins returning from the Theatre. o Theatre.

At 9.30 p.m., on the 20th. ultimo, a man of medium height, apparently well dressed, wearing a hard, felt hat, followed Sarah McJerrow, a servant of Mr. B. Woods, inside Mr. Allen’s garden, Cashel street west, when he threw her down, but upon her crying out for help, he decamped. Not identifiable.

On the 26th ultimo,, a foal, the property of Henry Mills, of Peel Forest, which , was running with its dam, in the Bangitata river bed, was found dead, 1 with its throat cut, and other injuries, 'which lead Mr. Mills to suspect two halfcastes, described below, as having maliciously done it. James Waterhouse, halfcaste, 19 years, sft. llin., thin build, slovenly gait, dressed in dark coat, light tweed trousers and vest, white Yankee hat, watertight boots, a ploughman; James Waterhouse, halfcaste, 15 years, sft. 4in., stout build, dressed in light tweed suit, a labourer; both men still at Peel Forest. Mr. Mills offers a reward of £lO for the discovery of the offender.

At 8.45 p.m., on the 28th ultimo, a notice board, the property .of the Heathcote Road Board, on the Waltham Road, was maliciously broken by two boys, about 16 or 18 years of age. Not identifiable. And about the same time, two panes of glass in the house of Mr. Pillow, St. John ( s road, Waltham, were maliciously hroken by stones being thrown through them.

Wanted the whereabouts of James Nicholson McKenzie, a Scotchman, 32. years, sft. Bin., stout build, sandy hair, beard, whiskers,' and moustache, speaks, with a broad accent. He deserted his wife, Elizabeth McKenzie, and children, at Leeston, in. February last, after which he was working for some time at Alford ’Forest, whence he is reported to have gone to Peel Forest Saw Mills, to whose manager, Mr. Button, he is well-known. A summons is filed in this office for service upon him when found.
