Between 10 p.m. 30tb, and 2 a.m. 31st ult., five panes of glass, value 255., were maliciously broken in the cottages at Phillipstown, St. Asaph street east, belonging to Thomas Bullivant. Charles Burmeister, keeper of the oyster saloon, Gloucester street east, is suspected.

Henry Siierwill has been arrested on warrant from Dunedin, by Constable Firman, Christchurch police, for wife desertion, and ordered to pay 10s. weekly.

About 10 a.m. on the Bth inst., a whare belonging to John McGinn, Sandhills, near Kaiapoi, was burned ; damage estimated at £4O. Phillip McGoldrick, Irish, farmer, about 40 years, sft. llin., slender build, fair complexion, iron-grey hair, beard, and moustache, shaved on cheeks still at the Sandhills, is suspected.

A man described as middle-aged, about sft. 7in., fair complexion and whiskers, dressed in light tweed coat and trousers, dark vest, lace-up boots, is charged with exposing his person at 3 p.m. on the Bth instant, to Mary Reece and Ellen Ellice, in the Park, near the Lincoln road ; the latter girl believes she could identify the ofiender.
