Inquests.

An inquest was held at Luers’ Hotel Oxford, on the 14th ultimo, before D. Sladen, Esq J.P. (Acting coroner) on the body of John Bansich, aged 38years, labourer, who was found hanging. by the neck with flax attached to a beam in a stable. Verdict to the effect that “ deceased committed suicide during a fit of temporary insanity.”

An inquest was held at the Christchurch Hospital, uu the 19th ultimo, before Dr. Coward, coroner, on the body, of Thomas Foster, aged 37 years, fish hawker. Verdict to wit, “ Natural causesdisease 'of the lungs and liver.”

An inquest was held at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Timaru, on the 21th ultimo, beforeß. Woollcombe, R.M., (acting coroner) on the body of .a new-born male child, its supposed mother to be Margaret Fitzgerald, who was found dead in a paddock on the 18th ultimo. Verdict as follows—“ That the child found dead on the Old North Road, Timaru, on the 18th of July, was the son of the prisoner, Margaret Fitzgerald, and came to its death by exposure and neglect shortly after its birth. Upon this the jury returned a verdict of “ manslaughter” against the prisoner; the jury being of opinion that Margaret Fitzgerald went to the place where the child was found with the intention of getting rid of the child by concealing its birth.” -

An inquest was held at the Christchurch Hospital, on the 24th ultimo, before Dr. Coward, Coroner, on the body of Sarah Wragland, aged 40 years, a matron, who died suddenly. Verdict—“ Natural causes, to wit, inflammation of the bowels and congestion of the kidneys, caused by blood poisoning from some kind of malaria.”

An inquest was held at the Christchurch Hospital, on the 31st ultimo, before Dr. Coward, district coroner, on the body of Fred. Richardson Fuller, aged 40 years, late taxidermist at the Museum, Christchurch. Verdict“ That deceased died from the effects of arsenic taken while labouring under a fit of temporary insanity.” ; ■.
