John Jackson, about 18 years, sft. 9in., medium build, round fresh-looking face, appeared to have dark hair, sharp and quick spoken, supposed to be a native of the colony. Dress : Cheese-cutter cap, Inverness cape, scarlet tunic with buttons down the front.—John Jones, about 30 years, sft. 7in , stout build, round features, dark whiskers, beard and moustache, dark hair, dark sac coat and trousers, black billycock hat. Were seen by Mr. Wilkin, of the Union Bank of Australia, shooting in Hagley Park, between 12 and 1 p.m on the 30th June, 1874. The above names are false, as no person can be found answering the description. The men are required, in order to serve summonses upon them for breach of “ The Public Domain By-laws and Protection of Animals Act.”

Reverting to Police Gazette No. 12, 1874 page 84, the jar of pickled onions therein described as stolen from the house of James Shaw, has been found in his garden at the rear of his house, with about half the pickles which were originally in it.

Keverting to Criminal Offence dated Christchurch, 22nd July, 1874, offender Philip Johnson has been arrested by ChiefDetective Feast.

Capt. Nichol, of the barque Moss Glen, offers £2 each for the arrest of the undermentioned deserters : —Peter Lauritzen, Norwegian, 28 years, sft. 10in., stout build, large sandy beard. Hans Kristoffersen, Norwegian, 22 years, sft. sin., stout build, fat face, light complexion, small light whiskers; both speak a little English, and carried swags.
