Stolen, from the person of William Hyndman, at Southbridge, on the 23rd February, 1874, a yellow leather purse, with elastic band, containing colonial gold ring, heart in hand device, marked W. H. inside, and weighing 7 dwts., about 7 dwts. of alluvial gold, of which two small nuggets weigh about 5 dwts., a £l note, and about 15s. in silver, total value £5. Ring, nugget, and purse identifiable. A man named Fairfax, about 50 years, 6ft., stout build, florid complexion, brown hair turning grey, brown moustache, shaved chin, and long grey Dundreary whiskers, who had been drinking with Hyndman during the day, is suspected. Stolen, from the Rising Sun public house, Caledonian Road, between 12 and Ip.m. on the Ist inst., anopened-face silver lever watch, silver dial, with snake pattern chain attached. Identifiable. Thomas Collins, English, about 48 years, sft 7in., stout build, fresh complexion, bald on top of head, grey whiskers, no moustache, dressed in old tweed suit and billycock hat, is suspected. Still in ChristChurch.

Stolen, from the person of William Miller, of Mein’s Meat Preserving Factory, during the night of the 4th inst., a brown leather pocket-book containing a cheque for £5 85.9 d., drawn by E. G- Wright, upon the Union Bank of Australia, L hristchurch, and about thirty single notes, bank or number unknown. The cheque has been paid into the bank over the counter. A man about 28 years of age, sft. ilin., thin face, sallow complexion, shaved on cheeks, dark moustache, and goatee, dressed in a tweed suit, and black hat, supposed to have gone to Auckland, is suspected.

Stolen, from the Railway Reserve at Tiinaru, between 5.30 and 9.30 p.m, on the 6th inst., a double blue blanket swag, with a stripe of the red edge about Sin. long by lin. broad torn out of the end, containing one volume

Stolen, from the dwelling of Mrs. Smith, Christchurch, some time between the 6th and 12th inst., one hammer, one chisel, one pair pincers, and a silver open-faced watch, with flowers marked on back of case, and tw r o small notches on the handle, maker’s name and number unknown.
