Stolen.

Stolen, from the Timaru Hotel, Timaru, on the 28th September, 1871, two £1 notes, two striped cotton shirts, one small travellingbag and key —only the key identifiable—the property of Joseph Lorns, of Timaru. A man named Greorge Webster is suspected, having been seen in the room on the night the articles were missed. He is described as English, 22 years of age, about sft. 6in. high, medium build, fair hair and moustache, fair complexion, dresed in white straw hat, light tweed coat, Crimean shirt, moleskin trousers, and watertight boots.

Stolen, from the store of J. White and Co., Leithfield, on the 30th September last: —3o Crimean shirts, 30 meerschaum pipes and cases, 10 wooden pipes in cases, 20 pocketknives, 20 purses, with clasps ; 4 gold pencilcases, 3 boxes of cigars, £2 in cash, consisting of £1 note, one half-sovereign, Is. in silver, and threepence in copper. Most of the articles are identifiable. A man was seen prowling about the store on the night of the robbery, about 25 or 30 years of age, sft. 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, shaved on cheeks, about half-way down; dressed in dark or blue clothes, blue or black cap, Erench peak ; no swag; two or three cuts on outer side of one of his boots, as if suffering from corns.

Stolen, during the night of the 9th ultimo, from a paddock on River Styx, near the North Eoad, a light brown colt, 12 months old; no brands. A cut on coronet of near fore foot; identifiable.

During the night of the 14th ultimo the store of Joseph Dransfield, Lyttelton, was broken into, and a quantity of sugar, tea, and spirits stolen therefrom.

Stolen, from a building in course of erection on Wilson’s Road, near Christchurch, on the night of the 25th ultimo, one l|-rn Eermor chisel, one f-in. do., one 1-in. mortice chisel, one doveplane, one bevel, one 6-in. square —identifiable—the property of John M. Rennie, Eerry Road.

Stolen, from the shop of H. T. G-ourlay High Street, Christchurch, on the morning of the 4th ultimo, about 130 photograph views of the White Hart Hotel; identifiable.
