Inquests.
An Inquest was held at Sumner on the 7th ult., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of John Walker, aged 59 years. Verdict —Died from natural causes.
An- Inquest was held at Waihi Elat on the 4th ult., before B. Woolcombe, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Margaret Jane Campbell, aged 20 months, who met with her death by being accidentally drowned in a trough of water. Verdict accordingly.
An Inquest was held at Southbridge on the 6th ult., before W. B. C. Christy, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Edmund J. O. Bridge, aged 3 years and 3 months, who was found drowned in a creek near his parent’s residence. Verdict—Bound drowned.
An Inquest was held at Lyttelton on the Bth ult., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Walter J. Newman, aged 12 years, who was found drowned in a creek in Port Levy. Verdict—Pound Drowned.
An Inquest was held at the Wharf Hotel, Perry road, on the 9th ult., on the body of Isabella H. Berg, aged 28 years, who was found floating in the River Heathcote on the day previous. Verdict—Pound dead in the River Heathcote, but how or by what means she came to her death there is no evidence to show.
An Inquest was held on the 18th ult., at the Christchurch Hospital, before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Thomas Purcell, aged 84 years, who was found floating in the River Avon on the day previous. Verdict—Pound drowned.
An Inquest was held on the 24th ult., at Christchurch, before J. W. S. Coward, Esq Coroner, on the body of Joseph Denny, a farmer, aged 45 years, who met with his death from injuries received bv falling l against the fly-wheel of a thrashing" machined Verdict—Accidental death.

An Inquest was held on the 31st ult., at Christchurch, before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Henry William Smith, an illegitimate child, aged 8 weeks, who died on the 29th ult. from congestion of the brain. Verdict—Died from congestion of the brain.
