A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Thomas Heuson, per Lady Franklyn, charged with the above offence. Description:—s7 years old, sft. sin. high, swarthy complexion, light hair and whiskers, the latter said to have been shaved off, blue eyes, large features, a piece bitten off the end of nose, scar on top of forehead, small scar back of right hand and on left cheek bone, native place County Carlow, Ireland; wore dark coat with light one underneath, dirty moleskin or corduroy trousers, and either a black billycock or deerstalker hat; was employed as wardsman at the Hospital, Launceston, from 1862 to 1868.

A Warrant has been issued by the Bench at Christchurch for the apprehension of John Downie, for disobeying a summons for a violent assault. He is an Irishman, aged 30, sft. 6in. high, medium build, fair complexion, light brown hair, sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache, grey eyes, round face, thin sharp nose, dressed in drab tweed suit, red necktie, and dark felt hat; a miller by trade.

Deserted from the ship Monarch, on the 2nd, 4th, and 9th October, 1870, whilst lying at Port Lyttelton, the persons described below. Philip Andrews: _ a Scotchman, 22 years of age, dark complexion, sft. 7in. high, dark hair and whiskers. Henry Swanson : an Irishman, 22 years of age, sft. Bin. high, slight build, effeminate voice, tuft of beard on chin. John Collins: 24 years of age, an Englishman, short, stout build, round shoulders, fresh complexion, full face; brown hair, whiskers, and moustache. Daniel Sayle: 30 years of age, sft. 7in. high, very dark complexion, spotted on face, tuft of beard on chin, moustache, a native of the Isle of Man. McKenzie: a Scotchman, about sft. 6in. high, dark complexion, slight whiskers and moustache, dark hair. Fulton: aged 24, sft. 6in. high, slight build, thin face, an

Irishman, wears a cap with broad top. Henry Rennie: aged 29, tall, thin build, dark complexion, tattooed on both arms and rings on the middle fingers of right hand, bullet scar above the ankle on left leg, beard and moustache close. William Freeman : aged 22, looks very young, little hair on face, walks with a slight stoop. Robert Lundy: aged 24, a big man, with red moustache, and tuft of beard on chin, an Irishman, walks very slovenly in a stooping rolling gait. Walter Martin: aged 23, medium height, walks with a stoop, swings his arms in a peculiar manner, wore moustache and tuft. John Condin : aged 30, an Irishman, moustache and beard cut short, light grey eyes. Edmund Fagg: aged 34, sft. 6in. high, red hair worn long, moustache, and tuft of beard on chin, hooked nose, a peculiar expression about the eyes, a rolling gait. Fulton returned, and Freeman has heen arrested ; the rest are still at large.

John Smith and Joseph Miller are charged on Warrant issued by the Timaru Bench with absenting themselves from the hired service of the Hew Zealand Meat Preserving Company, Wash dyke, Timaru. Smith is a Scotchman, aged 23, sft. 6in. high, fresh complexion, roman nose, dark hair, smooth face, medium build, dresses well, wears a Scotch cap, a tinsmith by trade. Miller is a Scotchman, aged 24, sft. 7in, or Bin. high, fair complexion, fair hair, beard beginning to grow, large roman nose, stout build, round shoulders, inclined to look downwards, dresses well, wears a Scotch cap, a tinsmith. Both these men are supposed to have gone to Dunedin to endeavour to get away to Victoria.

Between the hours of 1 and 2 o’clock on the morning of the 16th ultimo, the house of Wm. Preece at Addington was feloniously entered by breaking a pane of glass in one of the windows and undoing the fastening. Mr. Preece, on hearing the noise, got out of bed, when the burglar made off. No property missing.
