Inquests.

As Inquest was held by J. W. 8 Coward, Esq, foroner?at the White Hart Hotel, Christchurch on the 11th ultimo, and an adjourned inquest on the 18th ultimo, as io the origin of the fire which ook place in Cashel street on the morning of the 10th ultimo, by which the building m the occupation of Mrs Patterson, London Restaurant, and two others were destroyed. Verdict-That Margaret Patterson and Emily .tane Williams did feloniously and wilfully and maliciously set fire to a house in the occupation of the said Margaret Patterson, with intent then and there to defraud certain Insurance Companies called the “ Royal” and the “Australasian” Companies. Both persons were committed for trial.

An Inquest was held at Christchurch, on the 19th ult., by J. W. S. Coward, Esq, coroner, on the body of Samson Henry Rogers, a brewer, who was killed by a fall from a dray and the wheel passing over him. Verdict —Accidental death.

An Inquest was held at Christchurch, on the 23rd ult., by J. W. S. Coward, Esq, coroner, on the body of Marghret Torrence, a child two years of age, who died from inflammation of the intestines, the effects of injuries received from burning on the 12th ult. Verdict—Accidental death.

An Inquest w r as held at Christchurch on the 28th ultimo, by J. W. S. Coward, Esq., on the body of Sarah Laughton, aged 63, an inmate of the Sunnyside Lunatic Asylum, who died from typhoid fever. Verdict—Death from natural causes.
