Appointments &c., since the Publication of THE LAST LIST. Appointments. John Charles King, to be Constable. Edward Gerald Butler to be Constable. Promotions. First-Class Constable George Jeffreys, to be Thirdclass Sergeant. Extract from Otago Police Gazette, January 4th, 1869.

The two men hereinafter described are charged on warrant with having obtained by means of false and fraudulent representations about ten days’ board and lodging, from Susan Mayow, Accommodation House keeper, Pomahaka: — Ist, Charley , a Londoner, aged about 32, 5 feet 9 inches high, blue eyes, light beard and whiskers, and curly brown hair; of smart appearance and good address, usually wears a light grey tweed suit. 2nd, Bill , an Englishman, aged about 85, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, dark eyes, hair, and complexion, no whiskers, dark beard. These men are also suspected of having stolen from complainant on the day they left her house (sth ult.), a new puce coloured purse, with elastic band of same colour, containing eleven £1 notes and some silver; purse identifiable.
