OBITUARY

MRS MARY PHILLIPS The death occurred at her residence at Fencourt on Monday of Mrs Mary Phillips, wife of the late Matthew Muir Phillips, aged 77. Mrs Phillips was bom in Campbeltown, Scotland, and was married at Dumbarton. The family came to New Zealand about 35 years ago, and in 1919 the property at Fencourt was taken up, where Mrs Phillips had resided since. She was a staunch Presbyterian and in her earlier life in Scotland she took a very active part in the work of the Church, especially the Ladies’ Guild. Her husband died in 1934 and she is survived by one daughter and one son. They are Mrs F. Cooper (Cambridge) and Mr M. T. Phillips (Fencourt). Another son, Mr Thomas 'Phillips died of wounds in the Great War. There are six grandchildren and four great-grand children.
