FEDERATED FARMERS

AUCKLAND DECIDES TO JOIN The Auckland provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union yesterday decided to federate with the Federated Farmers of New Zealand. The meeting was a resumption of the annual provincial conference held nearly three months ago, and it occupied two days this week. About 100 delegates from all parts of the province were presided over by the provincial president, Captain H. M. Rushworth. The Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, Mr W. W. Mulholland, and Mr W. Marshall, a member of the provisional council of the Federated Farmers, were present by special invitation. The effect of the decision yesterday is that the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Auckland Province, will be part of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand. The union will continue in existence as a holding organisation.

It is announced that the decision to federate will not take effect immediately, as the new body will have to be registered and other details will have to be arranged, but the decision will be implemented as soon as possible.
