DECISIONS OF COUNCIL REPAIRS AT GAS WORKS If materials were available repairs at the gas works would be commenced shortly, said the chairman of the gas committee, Mr A. J. Denz, at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last night. The gas engineer was instructed to place an order for the material for an arch required. He was asked to prepare plans for the new bed of retorts and submit them to the superintending engineer for approval. The gas engineer will bring down plans, including a lay-out plan for a new purifier and the erection of a Humphrey Glasgow plant. He will report on the desirability and cost of providing a suitable still for distilling tar at the works. A plea for consideration of old people was made in a letter from the Hamilton and District Beneficiaries Association.
