SUCCESSFUL YEAR
BRUNTWOOD COMPANY At the annual meeting of the Bruntwood Co-operative Dairy Company *.he chairman, Mr W. N. Perry, presided over a goud attendance of suppliers. Reviewing the season, Mr Perry stated that production had beep increased by 180 tons of cheese, due mainly to the season and also to the fact that farmers had received. an extra cwt. of fertiliser a cow. Because of the increase in production and the economical running of the factory, costs had been reduced a little. The manager, Mr I. Peebles, had been second in the grading competition last year. In fact, Bruntwood had been in the first three places during the past ten years, which showed the manufacture of a consistently good product. Mr Perry said the payout received by Bruntwood suppliers compared more than favouVably with the disbursment of any other company jn New Zealand. “ The manpower shortage on farms and in factories has never been worse,” said Mr Perry. He found it hard to understand the call up of young men from farms last April particularly as many of them were still in camps in New Zealand doing practically nothing The two retiring directors. Messrs S. R. Hinton and G. A. Watt, who retired by lotation. were re-elected unopposed. Messrs Bindon and Champion were reelected auditors Before the meeting concluded. Mr Perry made reference to Mr William Miller, who was leaving the company after 28 years as a supplier and also a director. The chairman wished Mr Miller many years of good health in his retirement. Reference was made to the death during the year of Mr O P. Duncan, a former director, and Mr L. Herbert, one of the company's younger suppliers At a subsequent meeting of the board of directors. Mr W. N. Perry was reelected chaiiman for the fifteenth consecutive year.
