SERVICEMEN’S BALLOT A ballot lor sections for cx-servicc-men was held in the- Lands and Survey Department's offices, Hamilton, this afternoon. Altogether nine sections were balloted for and there were 58 applicants. The ballot was conducted by Mr T. C. W. Presser, of the Lands and Survey Department, Auckland. assisted by Mr A. W. Scott, of the Hamilton branch. Mr D. Bruce, chairman of the Waikato rehabilitation farm committee, was present and the Waikato Returned Services Association was represented by Mr Arthur Fow and the Second N.Z.E.F. Association by Mr A. T. Smith The nine sections comprised three at Bailey’s Block, Tirau. one at Miller's Block. Taupiri, and five at Mataruku Block. Tokoroa. The section at Miller’s Block consists of <H; acres and the other sections ranged in size from 120 to 140 acres. The successful applicants were.— Bailey's Block: Messrs R. Rawscn iWhakatar.e), A. E. Edwards Tuakau), J. Varley (Silverdale) TIMBER WORKER INJURED An employee if the Totara Timber Company. Mr Joseph Lowe, aged 60 years, of Lichfield. Putaruru, had both legs fractured when he was involved in a collision between a jigger and a motor truck this afternoon. He was admitted to the Waikato Hospital.
