Film Group’s Evening The film group organized by the Adult Education Committee held its first meeting on Saturday evening, when the Hamilton High School assembly hall was well filled A number of interesting English and American documentary films were screened and Dr. W. G. Airey of Auckland University College, gave an address on “The Film.” He said that the film was a branch of art just as literature or music. It was vitally necessary that people should see and discuss the artistic products of the cinema. The film group would fill this need and would screen films of all types that could be classed as art and were not the artificial, starstudded diversions that formed 90 per cent of commercial films. The next film evening will be held in two weeks’ time.
