FINES IMPOSED ON MOTORISTS There was a sequel to an accident at the intersection of Lake Road and Commerce Street. Frank top. on the evening of October 21 in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today when Percival Thomas Victor Priest (Mr A. L. Tompkins) pleaded not guilty to a charge of failure to give way to traffic, being about to turn to the right. , Evidence for the prosecution, conducted by Senior-Sergeant A. G. McHugh, showed that Roy Russell Cramp, with a'pillion rider, Ernest Howe, was driving a motor-cycle along Commerce Street in the direction of Hamilton. At the intersection of Lake Road and Commerce Street the cycle was struck by a car driven by defendant, who approached along Commerce Street from the opposite direction and was turning to his right into Lake Road. Mr Tompkins contended that there was no real evidence as to the point of impact. Priest approached the intersection at a slow speed. He did not see the motor-cycle approaching. The magistrate imposed a fine of £5. Failure to Give Way Arthur Gibbon Fisk pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to give way to his right at the intersection of Anglesea and Collingwood Streets on October 29 and was fined £3. Cecil C. Horne, contractor, of Newstead, was fined £5 and 10s respectively on charges of operating a heavy motor-vehicle without obtaining a heavy traffic license and without an indication disc. The prosecution was brought by Inspector G. G. Winter, of the Waikato County founcil staff.
