COMMAND IN BRITAIN

RE-ORGANISATION BY COUNCIL (Received Oct. 30, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 29 The Army Council has decided upon the re-organisation of the commands in Britain.

Among, the changes determined upon is the merging of the Eastern Command and the South-eastern Command into one command, designed the Eastern Command. The new command will be under Lieut-enant-General Sir Alan Cunningham, who succeeds LieutenantGeneral Sir Kenneth Anderson, who has been appointed to East Africa.

The South-eastern Command was originally created under the imminent threat of the invasion of the United Kingdom. Rev. Canon F. L. Hughes, temporary chaplain to the forces, first class (Territorial Army), has been appointed Chaplain-General to the i* orces, in succession to Rev. C. D. Symonds, who has retired on retired pay on account of ill-health. Rev. Canon Hughes has been appointed for two years.
