PUBLIC OPINION

CURRENT VIEWPOINTS THEFT OF FLOWERS (To the Editor) Sir, —I would like to warn the residents of Claudelands of the petty and contemptible action of some feeble-minded person who sneaks around under cover of the night and removes plants and flowers from the front gardens. Imagine my disgust yesterday morning when I found a large number of prize stocks in full bloom had been pulled out and the stakes carefully replaced. It was obviously not the action of youthful vandals, as all the removed plants were of the double cerise variety which are so difficult to acquire. This is not the first occasion. It appears that we will have to chain and padlock oUr plants, as we have to do our car tyres and petrol caps, if we wish to foil these night marauders. —I am, etc., MYRTLE STREET.
