TEMPORARY HOUSING
PLANS FOR No. 1 BRIDGE AREA
The scheme adopted by the Hamilton Borough Council lor providing living accommodation for 15 families at the former Air Force camp on the | area near No. 1 Bridge, Whitiora, in- 1 volving a loan of £BBOO, provides for a living room, kitchen and two bedrooms in each home. It is proposed to purchase the buildings at present on the site from the War Assets Realisation Board. These include a laundry block, two ablution blocks, two shower blocks, 13 huts 30ft. by Bft., roading and gates, electric power lines and services, plumbing and drainage and special fittings. It is proposed to shift 10 of the huts and repaint them, to clear the area, make alterations to the drainage, repair the laundry block, and effect alterations to the shower I locks. The 13 huts will be altered to the extent of £SO or £6O each, and the ablution buildings will also be considerably altered. Two new hut buildings are provided for, and 15 r.ew buildings 21ft. by 12ft. 6in. will II e erected, the latter work accounting for approximately half the total cost of the scheme.
