NEW FRAGMENTATION TYPE (Received Sept. 23, noon) LONDON, Sept. 22 A new type of fragmentation bomb, weighing 260 lb, was used to prepare the way for the airborne landings in Holland. Lieutenant-Colonel R. G. Bennett, of the ordnance section of the Air Service Command in Britain, revealed that more than 24,000 of these bombs were dropped from Allied bembers to knock out the German flak batteries and ground defences.
