COMBINED BREEDERS’ FAIR Although prices were not as high as the first day, all quality bulls sold keenly at the second day of the Waikato Combined Breeders’ bull fair at Claudelands yesterday when the balance of the Jersey entries were auctioned. Altogether 240 entries were catalogued and an excellent clearance was made over the two days. The top lots yesterday sold from 60 to 90 gns.. other well backed sorts from 40 to 55 gns. and others from 20 to 36 gns. The highest price of 90 gns. was given by Mr H. T. Hodgson, of Hairini. for an outstanding yearling. Greencroft Vanguard, by Greencroft Superior from Greencroft Valerie, sold on account of Mr C. T. Bones, of Kaipaki. Messrs Hooker Bros., of Walton, were the successful bidders at 65 gns. on the 2-year-old, Shelford Wayfarer, an attractive son of Waipiko Clarionette from Shelford Nymph. The vendor was Mr A. G. Melrose, of Walton. Mr C. P. Hartstone, of Te Kowhai, sold a yeaning, Cloverbloom Cid, to Mr E. A. Welch, of Tatuanui, at 54 gns. A 2-year-old entry from Mr A. Devine, of Tamahere, was knocked down at 55 gns. to Messrs Dalgety and Company as agents for Mr L. H. Maher. The sale was conducted by the Farmers’
