No Chirstmas Day Pictures

A decision to decline any applications for the screening of pictures on Christmas Day was reached by the Wanganui City Council when a letter from the New Zealand Theatrical and Places of Amusement Industrial Union of Workers was received at the last meeting. Asking the council to refuse all such applications, the union stated that Christmas Day was usually observed by all sections as a holiday. Theatre workers, however, had only two other statutory holidays. Good Friday and Anzac Day. It would be appreciated il they could have Christmas Day free.
