CLAIM BY TWO CONSTABLES (By Telegrapn.—Ureas Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday Mr A. M. Goulding, S.M., was asked today to decide wnelher money round by the police and whose owner cannot be found becomes the property of the finder. The case in ooint was that of a waUet found last April containing 785 dollars. It was duly handed in tc the police office but efforts to find the owner failed, and two constab'es applied for ownership. Before dealing with th*» facts of the case the Magistrate vac asked to decide whether an order could be made. The Police Act provides that ownerless goods and chattels must be auctioned.

On behalf of the constables Mr J. Meltzer, secretary of the Police Association, said the regulation differentiated between goods and money, and he submitted that disposal of money was by common law under which the fined of money was entitled to it as against the whole world except the true owner.
