SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S REQUEST The Frankton School Committee asked the Waipa County Council yesterday to provide an alternative route to the Frankton saleyards for stock driven from the Whatawhata and Tuhikaramea districts, claiming that there was danger to school children from the existing route. It was suggested that Ellicott’s Extension Road would enable Rifle Range Road to be by-passed. The engineer, Mr W. G. Macky, after quoting relative distances, suggested that drovers of stock from Whatawhata and westward should be encouraged to use Boundary Road and Ellicott’s Road. The council decided to defer decision until reports were obtained from the Ngahinapouri and Whatawhata branches of the Farmers’ Union. ________
