GIFT OF STONE

SIEMORIAL CLUB BUILDINGS HINUERA MAN’S GESTURE Mr Frank Vosper, of Hinuera, who has a stone quarry on his property from which supplies were drawn for the construction of the Chief Post Office, Hamilton, has offered as a gift to the combined returned services building committee all the stone required for the proposed memorial club building, which is to cost £25,000. It is the committee’s intention to visit Mr Vosper’s property shortly for the purpose of thanking him for the gift, and to inspect the quarry. An expert commented today that apart from the architect and the builder, few were aware of the value of Hinuera stone for building purposes. As a facing material it was second to none in New Zealand, and in these days of shortage of building material it was surprising to find that more use was not being made of New Zealand’s natural stone materials.
