WAIKATO PROPERTIES SOLD AVERAGE OF £42/5/- AN ACRE The sale of eight farms in the Waikato district for the settlement of returned servicemen was approved by the South Auckland Land Sales Committee yesterday and today. The properties have an average area of approximately 80 acres and are fully improved, the average price approved by the committee being £42/5/an acre. The buyers were the rehabilitation authorities and the finance has been approved by the State Advances Corporation. The total figure was £27,040, the details being as follows:—115 acres at £SOOO, 66 acres at £2650, 70 acres at £2350, 81 acres at £4024, 93 acres at £3510, 58 acres at £2900, 103 acres at £4635, 56 acres at £1971. In the case of the sale of a farm property at Reporoa, Rotorua, comprising 303 acres, the purchase price of £2570 agreed upon by the vendor and the intending purchaser was accepted as the basic value of the property by the committee. However, it was decided by the committee that the property was a very desirable one for the settlement of exservicemen and accordingly it was recommended to the Minister that the property should be acquired for this purpose. It was considered that the property would be suitable for the settlement of two servicemen.
