PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT with knowledge of the Farming, Building, Transport and other Industries—has ability, courage and experience—the essentials for PROGRESSIVE ECONOMICAL RECONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF OUR WAR HEROES 1069 A. N OPEN LETTER TO THE ELECTORS OF HAMILTON [ Ladies and Gentlemen,— In offering my services as a Councillor for the Borough of Hamilton, I do so feeling convinced that my long experience on Construction Work and the knowledge gained from the many Executive Positions I have held will be of material advantage to the Borough in which I have resided for over forty years. I am not associated with any organisations or Group, but will stand or fall as a straight out Independent, assuring you, that if elected I will carry out my duties impartially, and to the best interests of the Borough as a whole. I believe that the contents, and reasons, for the 1927 Resolutions should be investigated, and rescinded in part, or whole, as thought best by the new Council, and that each Departmental Executive Officer should be responsible to the Council for his own department. Recognising the ability of the late Borough Engineer, I shall press for a full and open investigation of his dismissal, and I will wholeheartedly support the immediate rectifying of any injustice. The provision of adequate Ladies’ Rest Rooms at both Hamilton and Frankton, to be treated as urgent necessities, and proceeded with at once. While it will be the duty of the new Council to make every endeavour to relieve the present drastic state of the Housing position, I am firmly convinced that this is a National Problem, and should be handled as a Major Rehabilitation Project calling for the co-operation of all Local Bodies and the Government. The establishment of a Municipal Bus Depot should be given full consideration. A stricter supervision of traffic, both Vehicle and Pedestrian in congested areas. I shall support to the utmost of my ability the re-establishment of our Service Men and Women, and will consider no effort too great to assist them in the tremendous problem which lies ahead. In short if elected, I will carry out my duties to the Citizens of Hamilton, and the State, Without Fear or Favour, Believing wholly in the principle, One for All, All for Progress. Yours Respectfully, D. L GATE. 'T'O THE ELECTORS OF . PIRONGIA RIDING Vote M. J. CORCORAN for Councillor, HAROLD W. WILSON and WILLIAM LUSTY for Waikato Hospital Board, three successful farmers who have represented you for many years. Polling Day, Saturday, May 27th.
