RUSH ON BREAD
SHORTAGE YESTERDAY Hamilton bakers could not cope with the rush of orders for bread yesterday and some customers had to go unsupplied. In anticipation of a substantial increase in orders because of the long holiday week-end bakers had made extra bread, but even this was not sufficient to cope with the demand. It is thought probable that the increased demand was brought about by a number of holiday-makers still remaining in Hamilton yesterday. Some shops were out of bread early in the afternoon. The number fo hot cross buns made was insufficient to meet the demand and one baker said today that he could have sold double the number he had made.
