MUNICIPAL ELECTION
. PREPARTION OF MAIN ROLL . The Hamilton Borough Council’s staff is preparing the main roll to be used at the municipal elections in May. Many deletions have been made and notices have been sent to the last known addresses of all whose names have been cut out. Any person other than an enemy alien who is over 21 years of age and has resided in the borough for three months, any person who for thrde months has been a tenant or sub-tenant of premises within the borough the rei-t of which is at the rate of not less than £lO a year, or any person owning property or whose name appears on the occupier’s column in the valuation roll is entitled to have his or her name on the roll. In the case of a husband and wife any qualification possessed by either of them’ is deemed to be possessed by each of them. It is known that many people have come to reside in Hamilton since the last municipal roll was prepared in 1941, and since except in the case of ratepayers their names cannot be inserted in the rolls without formal application, it is hoped that those who wish to vote will secure the necessary forms from the council’s offices at an early date. The roll closes on January 31 and any applications which come to hand after that date will be dealt with in a supplementary list. A nice range of pretty furnishing colours in English art silk taffeta is now showing at Hooker and Kingston’s. These are in soft tones of rose, blue, green and gold and are extremely nice for making bedspreads, cushions, etc. It is an excellent quality 45in. wide at a very moderate price of 11s 6d and colours are fast.*
