SEIZURE OF LIQUOR

WHISKY AT £ls A BOTTLE SYDNEY, Jan. 12 Over 1000 bottles of beer and spirits, believed to have cost £3OOO, were seized by customs officers today on a ship in an Australian port. The liquor was packed up and taken into bond. For some time the authorities have been aware of traffic in liquor between Australia and the northern battle stations. Officers believe that the whisky which was seized cost the buyers about £5 a bottle on the black market, and that it would be saleable in operational areas at about £ls a bottle. Beer at the black market price of £2 a dozen bottles would sell in operational areas at £1 a dozen bottles. ■
