SHIPS DESTROYED
JAPAN’S BIG LOSS PLANES SHOT DOWN ALLIES IN NEW GUINEA LONDON, Sept. 28. Seven Japanese ships were destroyed in a highly successful Allied air raid on Wewak, New Guinea, today, says General MacArthur’s communique. The ships were three tankers and four merchantmen.
Fourteen Japanese aircraft wen shot down and a further 50 wen destroyed on the ground.
The Japanese are suffering heavy casualties as the Allied forces press in on Finschhafen.
Twenty-five Japanese aeroplane' today raided the Drysdalp Missior in north-western Australia.
