GREAT AMERICAN TRIBUTE LONDON, Sept. 27 A stirring tribute to the Royal Air Force was paid by the Chief of the United States Army Air Forces,, Lieutenant-General H. H. Arnold, in a personal telegram to Air Chief Marshal Sir Charles Portal, on the third anniversary of the Battle of Britain. “The change we see in our fortunes and prospects,” General Arnold continued, “could not have been accomplished without the victory in the Battle of Britain which we now commemorate.

“The United States Army Air Forces join wholeheartedly with Britain in paying tribute to the dauntless Royal Air Force, and are proud to be fighting side by side with the gallant airmen to whom the United States owes so much.” Generous Gift to Air Force

A message of congratulations has been sent to the Royal Air Force on the third anniversary of the Battle of Britain from Air Commodore His Highness the Nawab of Bhopal, who has placed at the disposal of the Air Commander-in-Chief in India 100,000 rupees for the prosecution of the war and a further 10,000 rupees for amenities for units of the Royal Air Force and the Indian Air Force in Bhopal.
