LEADER OF OPPOSITION
MR S. G. HOLLAND’S CAREER
Mr S. G. Holland, who was born at Greendale in 1893, has been Leader, of the Opposition since November, 1940, a member for Christchurch North since 1935. Keenly interested in sport, he re-
presented the South Island at hockey, and managed the New Zealand team which toured Australia in 1932. He has been managing director of the Midland Engineering Company since 1918.
Public activities include three years as chairman of the Christchurch Citizens’ Association, a similar period as president of the Canterbury Employers’ Association and one year as vice-president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. He is a past-president of the Christchurch Businessmen’s Club. During the Great War he served with the N.Z. Artillery.
