INDEPENDENCE OFFER
FUTURE OF PHILIPPINES I (Received Sept. 25, 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 Senator Tydings has introduced a joint resolution to grant immediate full independence to the Philippines. The United Press says the resolution is a move aimed at blocking Japanese plans to give the Philippines “phony” independence and has White House ’ approval. President Querzon hailed the resolution as the best, wisest and noblest measure Congress could pass at this time regarding the Philippines.
