A Soviet communique reports the capture of more than 800 localities on September 26. In the Kuban area Soviet troops continued the offensive and occupied several localities. In the Dnepropetrovsk direction the Russians, overcoming enemy resistance, reached the Dnieper River. In the Kremenchug direction the Rus-

sians advanced from six to nine and a-hali miles, occupying 70 localities. In some sectors here and in the Kiev direction they reached the Dnieper River. In the Gomel direction they advanced from 7 to 11 miles, occupying Surazh town and the railway junction of Nogozybkov, setting free 300 other localities. In the Mogilev direction the Soviet troops advanced from 91 to 16 miles and occupied over 250 localities. In the Vitebsk direction they advanced in some sectors from 4 to 7 miles and occupied over 200 localities. On September 25 the Russians in all sectors destroyed or damaged 40 larks. In aerial engagements and by anti-aircraft fire 28 German planes were shot down.
