SPEEDY RETURNS
POLLING IN HAMILTON
One of the earliest election results made known to the public on Saturday night was the final figure in Hamilton. Final booth returns were received by the returning officer at approximately 8.20, which was a tribute to the efficiency of the many officials in charge of the polling booths in the electorate.
The Returning Officer, Mr H. B. R°id, in commenting on the quickness of the returns, said that the various deputies were to be congratulated on their promptness in forwarding returns. Excellent work had also been done by poll clerks, scrutineers and ticket distributors of the various parties, in fact, all Hamilton officials who had assisted with the election. Everyone, said Mr Reid, had readily acceded to any request he made concerning the proper and strict conduct of booths, which in the interest of the voting public and the parties themselves had to be maintained during polling hours.
