LARGE AUDIENCE

MR FINDLAY’S FINAL MEETING Although Mr Frank Findlay, National Party candidate for Hamilton, had the same experience last night as several other political candidates earlier in the week of bad weather, there were between 400 and 500 electors in the Theatre Royal. The weather last night was cold, wet and blustery, and by no means calculated to induce people to leave their cosy firesides to hear a political address. The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, presided and briefly referred to Mr Findlay’s fine record of public service extending over at least 20 years. Mr Caro said Mr Findlay had proved himself a true friend of the working man, a grim fighter for what he believed was right, and a public man with an unsullied reputation. He thought Mr Findlay would make an admirable Minister of Health. The recommendation was heartily endorsed, the audience according Mr Findlay warm applause. Mr Findlay spoke -for nearly two hours and only occasionally was there an interjection. At question time ten minutes were devoted to answering questions, these emanating principally from two electors who had earlier been interjecting. On the motion of Mesdames H. C. Ross and Waite, the candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and good wishes, with congratulations upon the way he had conducted the campaign.
