GREAT GROWTH IN BRITAIN (Received Sept. 25, 2 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 24 In 1939 Britain grew 400 acres of flax for fibre. In 1943 she grew over 52,000 acres—more than 130 times as much. These figures were given today in a speech by Earl de la Warr, Director of Home Production in the Ministry of Supply. He added that last year production increas%d more than three-fold over the previous year, while the new crop showed promise of yet further large increase.
