FINAL MEETING HELD

MR C. A. DARRELL’S CAMPAIGN “I have not come here with apologies. I am still one hundred per cent behind the Labour Government,” said Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P., official Labour candidate for Hamilton, when addressing the final meeting of his campaign in the State Theatre last night. A stormy night adversely affected the attendance but the candidate was given an attentive hearing with no interruption except for applause. The Mayor, Mr. H D. Caro, who introduced Mr Barrell, said that he had always been a good friend to Hamilton. From the borough’s point of view, at least, he could not speak too highly of Mr Barrell. At the conclusion of his address a unanimous vote of confidence in Mr Barrell and the Labour Government was carried, after which the candidate was cheered heartily.
