OBITUARY

MR W. J. NORTON The death has occurred at the age of 56 of Mr William John Norton, who had been connected with the dairy industry all his life. Before taking up residence in Taumarunui in 1926 he was manager cf the Waikato cheese and butter factory at Frankton for some years. He is survived by his wife and a married daughter. MR JOHN BYRNE The death has occurred at Auckland of Mr John Byrne, aged 68 years. The late Mr Byrne was an old identity of Cambridge and in earlier years was associated with the plumbing firm of McVeagh and Byrne. Later he carried on the business on his own account but retired two years ago. He was an old member of the Loyal Duke of Cambridge (M.U.) Lodge. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters. A son, Martin Byrne, a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, was killed during the present war.
