BE SOMETHING —DO SOMETHING

New Zealanders in the fighting forces have shown great capacity for enterprise, endurance, courage and leadership. Thoughtful people look forward to a post-war New Zealand in which those qualities will find full scope. The Fraser Government shows itself out of touch with the New Zealand spirit by legislating as if we were a nation of weaklings and leaners. “Let the Government do it”—‘‘let the Government support you”—that is its plan and motto.

After the war our young men will be “rarin’ to go”—to do things, to achieve something in industry or on the land and in other fields Are they to be held back by the strangling cords of regimentation? The National Party says no. It has faith in young New Zealand, and its policy will allow full scope for personal freedom and free enterprise in all things that will build New Zealand and provide outlets for talent and adventure. The National Party will reward thrift and enterprise and not penalise it—while making full provision for the sick, aged and needy. Vote National for Onward New Zealand. 342
