DESTRUCTION OF AACHEN
STORY TOLD BY PHOTOGRAPHS (Official Wireless) (Received July 17, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, July 16 Three hundred acres of Aachen was devastated on Tuesday night and 27 factories have already been identified as destroyed or damaged, according to the photographic record of the raid. Reconnaissance planes were first sent out the day after the attack but fires were still raging and dense smoke which reached a height i of four miles made it impossible to photograph more than a fraction of the damage.
