TORPEDOED TWO VESSELS (By Telegraph.—press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Distinguished Flying Medal has been awarded to Sergeant William Alexander Fraser, aged 21. The citation states: “One night last month Fraser attacked a mediumsized tanker off the Italian coast. Releasing his torpedoes almost head-on, he attacked so skilfully that the vessel was set afire and the escorting destroyers were .unable to fire a single shot before he flew clear. “Some nights later he was detailed to attack another* tankelr, and on this occasion he encountered much anti-aircraft fire from two destroyers. His aircraft was damaged and the rear gunner was wounded but Fraser torpedoed the tanker amidships. He has displayed great courage, skill and initiative.” The airman’s father is Mr W. Fraser, Auckland.
