OBITUARY
MR JOHN ROSS The death has occurred of Mr John Ross, of Frankton, who was aged 96. Born at Dindwall, Rosshire, Scotland, he came to New Zealand with his wife in 1879 and took up 500 acres of country at Harapepe. After breaking this land in he moved to Whatawhata, finally moving to Frankton. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. There are eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. MRS J. SIMPSON lSpecial to Times> MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday The death has occurred of Mrs Agnes E. Simpson, aged 65, who came to Morrinsville from Scotland 16 years ago. Mrs Simpsorf took a keen interest in the affairs of the Women’s Institute and the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. She also played a prominent part in the Morrinsville Caiedonian Society, of which she was a foundation member. She is survived by her husband, Mr John Simpson, one daughter and one son. MRS JANE MEADWAY The death has occurred of Mrs Jane Meadway, a pioneer of the Te Rore district, and widow of Mr William E. Meadway. Born at Akaroa in 1862, she was a daughter of the late Mr Isaac Coates, who became one of the best-known of the early settlers in the Waikhto, and she lived at Te Rore for 65 years. Mrs Meadway was married at Te Rore. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church. One of her recollections was of assisting at the opening of the old Te Rore bridge 50 years ago. A son was killed in the Great War, and her husband died four years ago. Surviving members ul' the family are a son and daughter, Mr Hubert Meadway, of Paterangi, and Mrs W. F. Anderson, of Waiau, North Canterbury.
