The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall arrived at Auckland from Wellington yesterday. His Excellency received Vice-Admiral R. L. Ghormley, United States Navy. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, has returned to Wellington after an official visit to Taranaki, on which he was accompanied by Lieutenant - General E. Puttick, D. 5.0., Commander of the New Zealand Forces.

Sergeant Clive Hulme, V.C., of Nelson, is visiting Hamilton and is at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr S. Jackson, formerly choirmaster of St. Peter’s Cathedral, has been appointed to the staff of St. Peter’s School, Cambridge. Vice-Admiral R. L. Ghormley, U.S.N., left Auckland for Wellington last night. Captain J. P. Olding, United States naval observer in New Zealand, and staff officers accompanied him. Vice-Admiral Ghormley was the guest of honour at a private dinner given by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr J. A. C. Allum, on Saturday evening. Messrs H. Trigger (Inglewood), H. W. Neacy (Taumarunui), E. B. Brown, A. Wood, L. Cobbourne, M. W. Piper, L. Rhodes, A. V. Johnston (Auckland), H. J. Morton (Te Kuiti), and J. C. Berry (Putaruru) are at the Commercial Hotel.

Messrs R. Clark (Edendale), F. Morley (Nelson), W. J. Dyment (Wellington), C. Masters (Hawke’s Bay), A. Bevan, J. Wilson (Whangarei). Jenkinson, W. S. Knowles, P. Hunt, R. R. Duder, B. H. Humphries, K. Trearsly, S. Davies. L. M. Walker (Auckland), and C. M. Herbert (Te Aroha) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
