CANADA AND VICHY
QUESTION IN THE COMMONS (Official Wireless) (Received Feb. 26, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 25 Asked in the House of Commons why the British Government requested the Canadian Government to remain in diplomatic relations with Vichy when His Majesty’s Government itself severed such relations, the Foreign Secretary, Mr Anthbny Eden, said: “In reply to a request received from the Government of Canada for an indication of its views as to the desirability of maintaining diplomatic relations with the Vichy Government, the British Government stated that it considered it would be in the common interest for the Government in Canada to remain in diplomatic relations with Vichy.”
